RIF Notices

EUSD has delivered RIF notices (pink slips) to almost 80 teachers in the district. Many of these teachers were taken by surprise by these notices because they have been teaching in the district for almost a decade. Others have been through this process for up to 5 years in a row. This is a forum for a discussion of this action taken by district management. Please be respectful of the opinions of others.

  1. This has been the most unstable job I've ever had. I've worked 10-12 hour days, (as I did while owning my own business for nearly 20 years) with the threat of losing my position each year since 2004. I'm a very upbeat and optimistic person and have been living my dream of teaching children, however sadly, time has finally run out. Just into my 6th year and feeling my groove I'll be out on my tush. My buddies and I are perusing what business opportunities may be in our future. Hate the thought of it, but we've got families to feed. Frankly, the continued uncertainty is draining. The fact that the State thinks it's okay to dissolve the last line of defense is appalling. Godspeed my friends!

  2. Why can't the district handle these pink slips in a more caring way. I know in many other districts people receiving these layoffs notices were well aware of it ahead of time while our district just shocks people with the notice who have almost ten years in the district. Common decency doesn't cost a thing.
