Thank you, EEEA, for all of the work you have been doing on this. The wording on your proposal is spectacular. Unfortunately, I'm sure the district doesn't agree. Thank you for addressing the IEP issue. That has been an area of heavy abuse by the district. I couldn't even count the number of hours I've had to stay late at IEPs. Stand strong for all of us!
ReplyDeleteDo not give in. Knowing this district, they will want to severely cut our pay and want us to work much more.
ReplyDeleteWhy did we allow the district to pick the insurance consultant??? Don't we realize that the district consultant will pick according to the best interest of the district???
ReplyDeleteWe need to stand united, and not allow anymore cuts, PERIOD! I have taken the $615/mo cut, and it is crippling as it is. I was not able to go to Kaiser due to being pregnant during the switch. This is ridiculous!! Not to mention, I pay for disability, which was denied, and now, I'm barely receiving a paycheck. I have to jump through several hoops to get pay, and I am getting more frustrated with our district. I am not alone...
We also need to publicize the continual growth that our district continues to put in reserves. We have got to fight and stand united!!!!
We didn't "allow" them to pick the consultant. It was up to the School Board to decide which consultant to go with. The District's Insurance Committee unanimously recommended one consultant, and the EEEA endorsed the same candidate in a letter to the school board. The school board blasted us for our letter, and voted 4-1 to go with another consultant.
ReplyDeleteThe consultant they chose (discounting the wishes of employee group representatives) was recommended by the FBC/County Office of Education. Bob Leon is on the Executive Board of the FBC. He is also the District's lead negotiator. We pointed this out to the School Board, and we were accused of "mistrust."
Again, they totally discounted the wishes of employees and went the "my way of the highway" route. Very typical of how they operate.
Thanks for clarifying that we didn't allow them to pick the consultant. Since I am relying on this blog and emails from the EEEA at this time, I appreciate the quick response...
ReplyDeleteAre we going to be looking into supporting our picks for the school board spots? Are there any spots coming available for us to try to get our people into?
There are three seats open this coming November. We have been contacted by several candidates who have expressed interest in gaining our endorsement.
ReplyDeleteWe will be going through the endorsement process in early August, and the Rep Council will be voting on these potential endorsements on August 31st.
So happy to see that the 3% was taken off of the proposal list for cuts...Also very thrilled to see that the SPED language is being looked at. I know that SPED has always had to do more 'after hours', it's about time they get either compensated or relieved of all the overtime!
